Puritan Belief

The Puritans are the men of God who started in the 16th century building on the purity of the gospel message that Salvation is by Grace alone.

Preaching to the Flesh

A missionary was sent overseas to preach the gospel. He was a man who loved scripture and loved verses like "Go into all the world and preach the gospel". When he arrived he used all the enthusiasm he could muster and taught the verses the Lord had given him to preach.

Back in those days before blogs and email they sent and received telegrams and His church sent one asking him "how is everything going?" He then sent a telegram back saying "Jesus is doing a mighty work here I am so happy to be part of it." The church received this with joy and thought of the revival that would be going on in a far away land so they quickly sent back another telegram "how many people have joined the church?" He replies "none, but hundreds have left".

We often concentrate on the times when Jesus fed the 5000 or the crowds that were so big that men would lower a crippled man from the roof so Jesus could perform miracles. Times were not always like this with Jesus. There were times when Jesus would proclaim the truths of the scripture often about election and there would be no one left except His disciples and even they would exclaim "This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?" John 6:60 (Concerning eating His flesh and drinking His blood). Jesus never preached to the flesh he always preached to the Spirit of a man. For the kingdom He established is Spirit and Truth.

Amen PB!

You have no idea how many "Christians" who have told us we needed to "sweeten" our Gospel preaching.

While it is true that you attract more flies with honey... it's sheep I'm interested in, not flies.

Calvin himself would disown Puritanism in at least a few different issues. One can be found here

I assume you are referring to the 7mins. That is my estimate to give people an idea how long it takes to read your article on John 6:35-71
