Dan Brown - Da Vinci Code
I listened to Dan Brown talk about his book after reading James White point out how big it has become. Mr White is going to address some of the claims from his book soon.Dan Brown is a brilliant speaker and humanist with the drive to stamp out fundamental Christians and lift up humanitarianism.
Dan Brown: "There is enormous danger in believing we are infallible that our version of the truth is absolute that everyone who does not think like we do is wrong and therefore an enemy ... (huge applause) ... I really wish I had the luxury of absolute unquestioning faith. I do not and am still searching." Listen in Context
The above statements is the wisdom of this world. There was someone who claimed to have infallible truth and he proved it by rising from the dead. Jesus
Jesus: "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."
This is what Dan Brown admits he lacks but is still searching for. To believe that all scripture is God breathed, and to be totally reliant on Jesus.

Mr. Brown and the people who take the Da Vinci Code as fact seem so willing to accept anything at all that is outside the bible but when it comes to the bible they can't seem to accept anything.
I read the Da Vinci Code. It was a well written, entertaining STORY. It's FICTION.
I also have the Gnostic Bible and Lost Books of the Bible so I know what he is supposably basing his STORY on.
Years ago I read Holy Blood, Holy Grail. What Mr. Brown does is take that book and ad a STORY.
I haven't read any of the books
that are against Mr. Brown and/or the Da Vinci Code yet. I probably won't. All one has to do is read Holy Blood, Holy Grail to know that Mr. Brown went no further than this book to "research".
Just so no one is confussed here. The Gnostic Bible is NOT the Bible.
The Lost Books of the Bible are NOT the Bible. Holy Blood, Holy Grail is a bad theory. The Da Vinci Code is a good STORY based on wrong and/or bad information.

Yes you are right many people never came to know Jesus though they knew scripture back the front.

"the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out." John 6
To think that not one person who came to Jesus was ever thrown away, not one. All those that received him even to them that believe on his name are saved. For they are born again of the Spirit. (John 1:12-13)
Why are you searching? Why has He made you thirst for spiritual things? Could this not be the Lord Himself drawing you?
"He is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by him." Hebrews
"Come unto God by Him". It's by Jesus, salvation has no sweeter name. His death bought life to those that call on his name.

The above is not to give you a better theoretical bible education it is simply to show you that if the scripture is true and Jesus did conquer death despising it's shame and became sin on our behalf. If this be true then it is true that Jesus is alive not in theory but for real.
The Da Vinci Code is one of the best novels I have read in a while. It is good becaause it has intrigue, is fast paced and is believable. It still is simply a fictional novel though. What it most heavily relies on for 'proof' is Holy Blood, Holy Grail written in 1982 by Michael Baigent (A conspiricy theorist), Richard Leigh(a novelist), and Henry Lincoln(a writer and TV actor). Even then, secular historical critics. argued that the bulk of the claims, mysteries and conspiracies presented as fact were concocted by the authors, making Holy Blood a work of pseudohistory, and thus so is the Da Vinci Code, as Holy Blood, Holy Grail is its strongest 'evidence' text.
Credible, mainstream historians and archeologists work according to established standards of academic research. They publish peer reviewed journals. They debate each other on many matters yet they agree about what constitutes legitimate research methods.
Pseudohistory exists outside that mainstream. It can take many forms but usually follows familiar patterns. Rarely does it go the route of peer reviewed publication. A person who engages in pseudohistory typically makes a direct appeal to the public. Citations will be absent, inadequate, or unreliable. Pseudohistory does not do justice to mainstream interpretations.

It is amazing how hard the world will cling to a lie so that they can further excuse their distrust of God.
Evolution is another example.

The Da Vinci Code movie is in production at the moment with Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon Due to be released in Australia on May 18 this year. Rick doesnt have a Tom Hanks movie on the way.
Dan does have a plagerism trial at the moment to deal with though. It appears the the authors of Holy Bloog Holy Grail dont like their ideas being stolen. Notice how this NEVER happens with non-fiction titles. You cant steal historical fact, but you can steal a fabricated story idea.

It's not really fair to compare Rick Warren with Dan Brown. That's a joke.
Hey, I don't agree with Warren on everything but at least he's a believer and trying to strengthen the faith of others.
Brown is a lost man and wants to destroy the Christian faith.
The Da Vinci code is to history what the Loch Ness creature is to zoology. (Except there is a possibility for Nessie...)
It is a well-written FICTION (as has been noted) book. Unforunately, too many people are content to learn their history from Hollywood. They take whatever is fed to them as fact.
My prayer is Dan Brown finds the truth that underlies an "absolute unquestioning faith."

I think you are reading into what I said. I wasn't comparing their content I was comparing their booksales hence I said "perhaps he will even do better then Rick Warren" As you may not know Rick Warren has been on Operah and has sold millions of copies.

"The Davinci Code" is the evidence of people who wish to have just enough religious philosophy to make them feel good about themselves, but yet not have a genuine experience that brings transformation to their lives.
Yes Gordon, Salvation is when the creator himself, Jesus makes himself known to you. When we are born again of the Holy Spirit. When our sins are covered. When we stand without spot or wrinkle by the grace he has given us. When we become like a little children and inherit the kingdom of heaven.

I can't think of many fictional books which have detailed historical accuracy. Even so called Historical-Fictions usually take great liberties with the truth.
Can't let the truth get in the way of a good yarn (Aussie slang for story) and all that.
That said the book is popular because it is well written and a good NOVEL. I would recomend Da Vinci Code to anyone looking for a new book to read. The only exception being someone who is either a new Christian or newly searching Chritianity. Those people may not have the strength of faith to see the fiction for what it is. For anyone else, well worth the read.
The main reason this book has recieved so much success and publicity is all the negative reaction from the church, just like the Harry Potter series. Negative reactions usually from people who have not read the books in question.

When I want know about a topic I goto the source. I'm actually reading the Quran. Not books about it. Anyone that thinks the "terorist" are "radical muslims" should read the Quran. They are "radical muslims" like we are fundemental christians. We should all be glad that not every Muslim is a good one.

Maybe I'm reading your argument wrong but it sounds to me like the same one bad parents use.
My kid is bad because of tv, video games, music, ect, ect.
No, Your kid is bad because you don't take the time to raise them corectly.
People shouldn't blame a book for people not taking the time to read their bibles and know the truth. Anyone being "took in" by this book is probably lost to begin with. The book wasn't the problem. It's their spiritual condition that is the problem.
I don't mean to sound like I'm sticking up for Dan Brown here but I think it's just rediculous to wage a war against a book!
The problem isn't the book. The problem is the world is lost. Again, The problem isn't the book. The problem is a church full of bible ignorant christians.
If you really want to find a book that is damaging the church try reading Your Best Life Now
by Joel Osteen.
I wouldn't really recommend the book -- except to people who want to comment on it! PLEASE Christians/church goers who want to wade into the debate read the book first. Too many times people react from rumours, anonomous fowarded-5000-times fake emails, or a story on today tonight -- these are all designed to stir us up to say stupid things!
Read it, then if you want to criticise, at least you have something to form an argument on.
