Being Saved
"One soweth, and another reapeth"
The Samaritan woman sowed the true Word of God to her village by preaching the gospel about Jesus the man who came and gave her eternal life. "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?"
Finally
"Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world." John 4:42
Heard Him Ourselves
We believe not because we were just told the gospel but because we heard him ourselves. Because Jesus came to us and said "Follow me"
Being Saved in Action
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. Matt 4:19-20

PB could you address the following scriptures in regards to your position here.
Ephesians 2:8-9 & Romans 10:17
Grace is Jesus when He (the word of Christ) comes to the sinner and says: follow me.(effectual calling)
This is grace that is not of yourselves lest any man should boast.
you have addressed Ephesians but not Romans.
That Salvation, which is through the Grace of Jesus and Faith in Him, is solely the work of Jesus and not the sinner. This is true.
You did not address that Faith comes by hearing the Word of God which is the scripture.
If Salvation is through Faith as Ephesians tells us and Faith comes by hearing the message or Word of Christ or Word of God, that is the Gospel message of the scripture, then it indicates that the scripture is fairly impoartant dont you think?

Yes scripture is important and faith is important.
They both come from Jesus Himself the word of God.
Yes. Being saved means that the person who wants to be saved needs to take and active part. "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Christ did NOT say, "I will now make you follow me, wether you want to or not, and you shall become fishers of men because that is what I decided you will be doing from now on."
Like fire which hardens clay and softens wax- Christ's love hardens the hearts of those that do not want him, and softens those that seek him.
Yes, I will agree, that we cannot love God without him first loving us. And he does love us. Which allows us to love him.
Now about Faith-- you need works also-- (imo, read the whole chapter 2 of James)
James 2:20
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
