One True Pastor Jesus
Can anyone show me just one scripture where a man or woman in the bible is called a Pastor?
Jesus said:
"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me" John 10:14
Why would you call anyone pastor who is not Jesus?
Jesus is the one true pastor or shepherd of scripture. Jesus says there is one flock and one shepherd.(John 10:16)
God-Appointed Pastors Eph 4:11
They are the opposite to the man-appointed pastors of a church business. God-Appointed pastors would blush if someone called them pastor for they can't help visiting their brothers and sisters in Christ in their homes and inviting them back to their home which they do voluntarily and not for money(1 Pet 5:2). They are perpetually encouraging others in loving their one true pastor Jesus.

Women being Pastors:
Titus 2:4..
... but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Women who do this as a second nature are God-Appointed Pastors without even knowing it.
Nice site! What's in a Name? If a Pastor is leading his flock in the Blessed Name of Jesus, bringing others in to belief in the Lord Jesus as personal Savior; is he or is he NOT doing his job well in the Lord?
I'm not a Pastor of a flock, but DO reach out to others; bringing them to the saving knowledge of my Lord JESUS. I find that if any Pastor does the same, that person is a God-Appointed Pastor.
Rudy:
You explained that you loved evangalism. "bringing others into belief in the Lord Jesus" (2 Tim 4:5)
You rightly say you are not a pastor of a flock because there is one shepherd Jesus Christ.
PB,
I sinceerly hope and pray that you do not attend any church with a 'man appointed pastor' as you call them. To do so would obviously be hypocritical as you are so against organised churches and seem to believe that pastors are false shepherds and are opposed to christ simply by calling themselves pastor.
this comment is in reference to both this and your previous post.

Simon:
Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?
Christians don't attend churches they are the church.
In Acts when the Christians broke bread from house to house were they hypocrites when they went to the [temples][church businesses] to evangelize the unbelievers?
Of course not otherwise Jesus would be a hypocrite too.
This is what I love:
having one pastor Jesus and being part of one church the church of the firstborn (Heb 12:23) having one Teacher and one Master and one Father Jesus and being all brothers. (matt 23:8)
Scripture tells us that the "Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty". There is great liberty in church or the body of our Lord who is the Spirit and who pastors us.
In the New Testament Church nobody is called by those titles they give themselves. With lies and deception they build their empires and set themselves on the pinnacle, those men usurp the kingdom of God under their authority.
In them Mat. 11:12 is fulfilled.
and from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
"Christians don't attend churches they are the church."
So you are a self-appointed-pastor/evangelist oh sorry 'God-appointed' who needs to reach the lost in churches?
By your above statement. Does it mean you are possibly the only christian since you only 'attend' churches to 'save' those there from the vile heresy that is known as the entire christian church or the collectlive body of christ?
simon
Simon:
"Christians don't attend churches they are the church."
This statement had it's context in the bible verse above it:
Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?(1 Corinthians 3:16)
The context is clear that all those who have God's Spirit in them are the church. Not the physical temples but the people. Can I get an Amen?
I am not against you Simon I want to know what Jesus has shown you about this topic from His word or even/especially by His Spirit.
Have you done what Elessi is doing?
Paul G
John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
I found this scripture in Matt 11 and read this chapter a few times.
My thoughts:
Suffereth viloence and the violent take it by force. These are the men/women who set themselves up with titles in the place of Jesus directly ignoring "Do not call yourself titles" (Matthew 23:7-9) instead of being your brother they want to be above you and hence they are taking the kingdom by force.
I love how the contrast is given in vs 25 about the Father: "hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes"
What has he revealed to these babes?
Jesus speaking:
"... learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls"
Eg. Jesus never forcefully called himself Rabbi, Father, God, Master, King, Prince, Councillor etc
Yet he is the ONLY one who deserves these titles. How glorious is it to learn from our Pastor our shepherd Jesus Christ. Psalm 23
PB,
you should read
Acts 20:28
and
1 Peter 5:2 clearly there is more than one shepherd. Even though Jesus is the "Chief Shepherd" (1 Peter 5:4). Notice too that these verses were directed at the apostles and not ordinary believers. Christians are the sheep while only some are chosen as shepherds. To deny that there are people who are gifted with the ability and have been chosen as pastors is wrong. You are effectively saying that Jesus did not fulfill one of His promises making Him a lier.
Please clarify if you were not intending this to be a blanket post and suggesting all Pastors in the modern church ar "man-appointed" and wicked. This is how you have come accross and it shows a questionable understanding of scripture and position of contempt and enmity with the modern church, which is the Body of Christ, qand not a 'prostitute' as paul g would say.

Modern Day Magi:
I certainly question "modern day wise men" and "modern day churches" but never the true church which I love for my pastor told me "I will build my church and the gates of hades will not prevail." (Matt 16:18)
You say "Clearly there is more then one shepherd" you are right they are called "false shepherds" for Jesus says "There is one shepherd and one flock"
If you did read this post you would notice how 1 Pet 5 was used to show Jesus-Appointed-Pastors:
1 Pet 5:2
"Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;"
They do not call themselves or are called pastor for they know what their chief Shepherd told them about being called titles and having positions above their brothers(Matt 23:8) and again in the next verse 1 Pet 5:3
Neither as being lords over God's heritage
Could it be any clearer? They are not above the common believer Lording it over them with high positions in churches but they are the brothers.
For they know 1 Pet 5:4
..when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
It is all about the one true Pastor Jesus.(John 10:14)
Why exalt man when you can exalt Jesus?
It seems we have many advocates of the Church Business, who draw near to their pastors rather than Jesus.
Is the modern church a business?
I have seen TV and Cinema advertising for churches at the cost of tens of thousands of misappropriated dollars and did not hear one word of the Gospel or the message of salvation.
I do not recall my Bible saying "Go into the world and preach the church".
But then again the church teaches & believes doctrine opposed to the Gospel....if they even read the Bible in Church!
A man made proselyte/Convert is twice a son of Hell. I often hear churches telling people that they are now saved & that they just made the best decision of their life.
Do we all forget that Jesus saves & he makes salvation known to us, or has it become a meaningless church cliche?
Simply, if Jesus isn't your only pastor, spiritual father and teacher; Then you learnt an empty church belief of man that will ensure your damnation.
IF we follow this line of logic to its end we get into a bit of a mess.
Since Jesus is the chief shepherd, there are no men who have been gifted to be shepherd for they would be false. Because no men can be sheperds then we are to ignore everything men say about God as they are only flase shepherds. Calvin, Luther, Bunyan, Knox, Wycliffe, Huss, Tyndale, Augustine etc were all men so they could only have been false shepherds since all men who are shepherds of God's flock are false. Thus we must ignore any theological insight these men had....
is there a point we can draw the line?

Modern Day Magi:
To be totally changed and led by the Spirit and not the letter you would know that Jesus is sufficient to be your pastor and would not replace him with anyone else.
A good pastor does not, nor does he seek to, replace Jesus.
Why do you insist that leadership within the church is "man-appointed" and opposed to Christ?
MDM
Because they appoint themselves
How do you know they appoint themselves?
How can you deny the calling of God on the lives of men and women who are to become pastors?
Most pastors prayerfully consider and seek other men and women of God to help confirm that they are to become pastors of the Church.
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."
