Puritan Belief

The Puritans are the men of God who started in the 16th century building on the purity of the gospel message that Salvation is by Grace alone.

As long as they Mean Well

This morning I went for a ride to the top of mount cootha.

And there was a group having a bible study when I got to the top. It was led by one guy and there were 5 girls and 2 guys. They must have been in a discussion and the main guy said.

"You can do bad things but as long as you mean well then you can still get to heaven"

Someone said what about murders and the consensus ended up being well if you say sorry it is alright. It all depends about getting your heart right and that there is always an "IF".

Reminds me of a good old saying

"The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions"

Thankfully there is only one IF concerning Salvation.

"IF you are Born Again, you will be Saved."

Thankfully also that the IF does not depend on man, but on Jesus.

Finally, something on which we can all agree.

Christ, through perfect life, sinless death, resurrection, glorious ascention and looked-for return redeemed us. Why? Because we needed it.

He found us, and bought us. He is the Author and Perfector. He is the confidence to which we hold. He is hope and life eternal.

As to the "good intentions" aspect, Proverbs spells it out that the Gift (sacrifice) of the wicked are rejected by God, but the Prayers (request) of the faithful are pleasing to Him.

God would rather give something to the righteous than receive something from the wicked.

Sin is innate, not taught. Ask any kindergarten teacher.

Good comment MDM!

Theophilus;

Everyone learns and broadens his understanding in disagreement and not in agreement.

I like your comment, it’s very good.

Question to all;
If a person can not get to heaven with good intentions, can a person get to heaven with bad intentions?

What kind of intention is required to be in heaven?
What must a person do to be in heaven?

PB you said : Someone said what about murders and the consensus ended up being well if you say sorry it is alright.

thats crazy if it was put that bluntly or did you replaced the word repent for the word sorry and took it out of context? anyway:), i guess anyone can say sorry and not mean it, anyone can repent and not mean it...only the children of God can repent and mean it for it is the power of God inside them bringing them to repentance...in this way, the outward act of repentance shows an inward transformation.

no. when jesus transforms u, the fruit of the spirit is evident. You cannot help but be changed.

What kind of intention is required to be in heaven? His intention

What must a person do to be in heaven? nothing

can i ask you a question? will God leave his children in poverty or sickness? this is a genuine question, not trying to trick u, i want to know cause i met this lady the other day with bi polar and schizophrenia, she is a world wide advocate of mental health awareness and i wondered if God would leave his child in that condition.

sorry takin, that doesnt answer my question...all it shows me is that preachers are fighting eachother.
His argument is one sided. in fact its not an argument its an explanation of his opinion.

Can you show me any verse in the bible that says that God is glorified by keeping HIS CHILDREN in poverity?

"any verse in the bible that says that God is glorified by keeping HIS CHILDREN in poverty?"

Kellie:
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God to those who are called according to his purpose. Rom 8

In the case that the Lord keeps you in poverty he is glorified that in these things he is working it all together for good and glorified in this. In Hannas prayer she said "It is the lord who makes rich and poor"

It is obvious to me though that the Lord does bless financially countries with a Christian Heritiage.

In the case of a mental sickness I believe that it depends on the sickness.

A lot of the mental conditions today I believe to be demon possession as seen in scripture. Today they give it a special name. ?Terretz? is one of them

hey PB:

so poverty can be worked together for good...in that he is getting us out of poverty? Do you think he will KEEP his children in poverty? Or it may be just for a season. I believe that it is just for a season...his children will cry out and be delivered from their oppression.

with the mental illness, what about other physical illnesses, mental illness is a physical illness, do you think that a broken arm is demon possesed? I think ALL physical illnesses are not of God.

Kellie:
Yes I do think that you can remain poor even though you are a christian.

The bible says:
"Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him. Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so."

This would include those who are poor. The Lord causes those who are poor to be born again and stay in their poverty for his purpose. Often he makes them prosperous but just as often not. Their riches are in Jesus and not their prosperity on earth. Many missionaries give up a prosperous life in Austraila to be among the poor.

It is the Lord who causes these things to happen such as physical things saying in regards to illness "Is it not I the Lord" He also said when asked why a man was born blind was it this mans sin or his parents Jesus said

"but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life."

Everything that happend in scripture happened that way for the Lord to save those who are his own even those who are poor, demon possessed and physically ill.

The pearl of great prize is stored in heaven where you can't go bankrupt.

Kellie;
Because of the sovereignty of God (Jesus Christ), He causes all things to be after the counsel of His will and for His own good pleasure, good and bad.
All sickness and disease, poverty and riches, bondage and deliverance, war and peace, curses and blessing, destruction and salvation come from the Lord Ex. 4:11, 1 Sam. 2:7, Isa. 45:7 and Deuteronomy etc. etc. God does all things Job 12:13.
Your question has troubled me for years.
Why does the Lord cause His children to be sick and diseased?
Why does He cause some of the wicked to be healthy and rich till they die?
It seems not to be fair, then again the Lord Jesus is not fair, He is just.

Like most people I searched the Scripture and listened to sermons etc.
We like to say ‘If all attempts fail, ask the Lord Jesus,’ because in Him is all wisdom and knowledge.
So I asked Him, He said, “I cause the wicked to be rich and healthy so that they will never seek Me, and My people to be sick and poor so that they will seek Me with all their heart and draw close to me, then I will show them that I am the Lord, the master physician, counselor, healer and deliverer”.
After that, I was in fear and trembling before the Lord to this day.

Kellie, how do you know that this lady is a child of God?
What makes you think she is?
Today most people believe in god, I always ask them in which god do they believe.
Is she a child of Jehovah god or Allah god?
Perhaps she has been seeking deliverance and healing from that Siamese triplet god who is commonly preached today?

My Bible says that all who came to Jesus Christ were healed and not one went away sick. He cast out demons and healed all their diseases.
Obviously this lady never came to Jesus Christ who is God over all, if so, she would be healed and delivered and give glory to Jesus.

I agree. The lady i was talking was not saved. I didnt ask her, it was evident. But i was wondering that if she was saved would she be healed. I agree with what you said.

PB,
i dont agree when you said 'It is the Lord who causes these things to happen such as physical things...' because i dont believe the Lord causes these things upon his children. He might allow it, but only for a season...to show we are nothing without him, we cannot survive without him.

Do you think that a child of God will remain in lack and not having their needs met?

and even if you are a slave, with the spirit of wisdom inside you, you can end up running the whole country...eg joseph. yes you can stay in your position, but God promotes according to his will and for his children he will always put you on a light stand so you can shine. mat 5:13
